Just a Porter

Posting has been sparse the last few weeks, I apologize. I finally brewed again on Sunday. My big brother was in town and wanted see what brewing was all about so we decided to dedicate the morning to brewing up a porter. I know, I know. It’s out of season. But it takes about 8 weeks to fully ferment and since I don’t drink my beer all that fast I fully expect to have it around when the weather starts to cool in September.

I am a huge fan of the Edmund Fitzgerald Porter made by Great Lakes Brewing, so I surfed the internet and devised a recipe that would approximate this outstanding brand. I wouldn’t call it a clone, but I’m hoping it has the same character.

You can view the recipe at Hopville.
