Look Out Nation, Here Comes MGD 64!

Brew Blog is reporting:

Miller Brewing Company told distributors today that it plans to roll out MGD 64 — a 64-calorie light beer — nationally this fall.

“With the brand building impressive momentum in the Midwest and West, the time is right to give beer drinkers across the country a chance to enjoy the unmatched refreshment and drinkability offered by MGD 64,” Miller CEO Tom Long said in a memo to distributors. “Thus, MGD 64 will replace MGD Light by mid-September in all remaining markets where the changeover has not already occurred, as well as in markets that do not currently have MGD Light.”

And let me be the first to say thank god. This is exactly what America needs: less taste, less body, less color. Regular MGD is just tooo interesting and indulgent for me. Its aroma is much too complex for the expert Beer Luver and its hops overpowering for a seasoned pallate.

I live in Chicago where we’ve had MGD 64 a while. And let me tell you … you won’t find a less satisfying beer anywhere on the market! It’s pale color is hardly distiguishible from urine and it’s body virtually non-existant. And, since the beer has virtually no maltable sugars, and therefore few calories, you can drink as much boring beer as you want!

This is nothing less than a triumph of modern commercial brewing. Thank you Miller.
